ImageShack Fights Pharma Cyber Crime
First it was Google Docs, and now ImageShack is facing abuse from pharma spam material. But the media hosting provider is not simply resorting to deleting these messages or images that are part of cyber crime. ImageShack has decided to fight back and is replacing abusive images detected on its servers with warning messages alerting viewers of the scam.

The ImageShack alert messages display logos associated with danger and hazards containing warnings like 'Delete this email immediately,' 'Do not buy,' 'This is a scam,' 'Do not click anything here,' 'Pharmacy scam,' 'Illegal,' 'Fake pills' and 'Your money will be stolen.' The warnings also include two shortened links, bit.ly/pharmacyspam, and bit.ly/pillscams, directing the spam message to Spamtrackers.eu, a spam fighting resource.
Currently the image replacement is performed manually gaining inputs from anti-spam organisations and individuals. ImageShack has already replaced 300 images uploaded to its hosting services with alert messages within an hour of being reported.
