How to Rip DVD to iTunes?

Many people have asked the question of "How do you Rip DVD to iTunes?
The basic answer is that it's very possible. The only thing is that it's not so easy to do.
Unlike ripping music CDs to iTunes which can be very quick and simple, ripping movie DVDs to iTunes is more challenging. The reason is because the iTunes program already has a built in software that enables you to rip CDs. By easily ripping CDs on your iTunes, you are then able to put the music onto your iPod or iPhone so that you can conveniently carry and listen to the music wherever you go. Unfortunately, the Apple iTunes does not have an easy solution for ripping DVDs. This means that it will be alot harder to convert your DVDs into a format that can be transferred onto your iPod Video or iPhone. It's a shame that it is not so simple, and many Apple enthusiasts have wondered why Apple has blocked that functionality.
According to various commentators of the iTunes software, it seems that Apple won't be adding the ability to rip DVDs to iTunes any time soon. There are two suggested reasons for this. Firstly, Apple faces an uphill battle againt Hollywood copyright protection and potential ligitation if it introduces DVD ripping to its iTunes program. It already faced plenty of hurdles in the past from major record labels due to the CD ripping features for the iTunes and iPod. The second major reason that Apple won't place DVD ripping into its iTunes software is that Apple is already making plenty of money on its iTunes Store which sells downloadable movies to iTunes users. The introduction of DVD ripping would diminish that revenue stream for them.
Since Apple does not have the software to DVD rip, then what then is the solution?
The use of third party software is the answer. There are already a few kinds of software that enable DVD ripping for the iTunes, and this is a great way for users to finally get movies onto their Apple devices.
Using the third party program, the movie will firstly be ripped from the DVD and onto the hard drive. Depending on the speed of your computer and your DVD drive, this could take less than an hour or a few hours. Your ripped file should then be converted into the MPEG-4 format, which is compatible for Apple devices. Once you have converted it, then you can transfer it onto your device using iTunes.
